The ACSM Test

Breathe deep. Taking a test could be a much better experience than you believe if you've spent time mastering the four Ps: preparation, planning, practice and proactivity. The four Ps can even make those who usually dread test-taking into great test takers.

You will find a number of parts to getting prepared for the ACSM exam. Learn about the documents or materials that you should have on the day of your test. Use research manuals, take practice quizzes, and go to study groups. Plan regular study sessions a couple of times weekly prior to your test, and separate the info into small parts that you can go over consecutively.

Plan ahead for test day: will you require a ride to or from the test? Will you need to take a day off from work or arrange for child care? Where will the test take place?

Do you need to eat prior to the test? Do you require a break during the test? Ask previous test takers about these and plan ahead so you don't worry about these contingencies on the day of the test.

Before taking the exam, practice many times to take it. You can do so by using a study guide, the internet, or practice exams. Exams could include various kinds of questions, including questions which require short answers and questions which are multiple choice.

You are fortunate if you have a buddy or family member who holds a license or at least has experience in taking the ACSM test, for they can guide you well to get ready for the test. This apart, you have to take practice tests which help you evaluate your performance and know your strong and weak areas of the subject. Once you know where you lack you can review and read those areas of study, with special care.

Most of the failures in taking this test could be attributed to ill-planned or delayed preparation and wrong study techniques. Forced and hasty memorizing at the last hour of the examination hardly help retain what they read and make them invariably fail to recall even the most important details, as they lack the confidence and poise which are important to face the test.

Find out the date of the test as far ahead of time as feasible. Enhance your test-taking skills before-hand. To be proactive you'll want to prepare, plan, and practice.
